Golf Professional - Custom Fitting |

At Pyecombe Golf Club we offer a fully comprehensive custom fitting service.
Whether we are making adjustments to your current set or building you new clubs from components,
we guarantee that you will leave with the correct clubs to suit your game. |
• An in depth interview is followed by a dynamic test for lie, loft and length. Swing speed, tempo, transition and position of release in the swing will be identified to ascertain the correct shaft. Everything down to the grip is taken into consideration. Trial clubs can be built for you to try and give feedback for any necessary further changes.
• We offer a full range of head designs from the clubmaker Tom Wishon. He is a 34 year veteran of the golf equipment industry, has designed more original clubhead models than any person in the history of the game and has contributed over 50 different clubhead firsts to the golf industry. His clubhead models have been used to win on the PGA tour and in Ryder Cup competition. |

The correct lie angle is critical to the playability of a golfer’s club. It has a major influence on accuracy.
If the club has an incorrect lie angle, the face will aim either left or right of target.
Too upright and the face will point left of target, too flat and the face will point right of target, even though the leading edge remains aimed at the target.
You could be swinging the club perfectly and still miss every green.
Lie angle can be easily checked and changed. |

Lie angle too upright, club face pointing left of target.
|
 |
Lie angle too flat, club face pointing right of target. |
|
|
Correct grip thickness helps to promote good hand action through the ball.
Grips should be changed approximately every 18 months for a golfer playing twice a week.
The grip has a major influence on the feel of the club and a minor influence
on accuracy.

Correct grip size. Two middle fingers just touch the palm.

There are two areas of loft to be considered, that of loft at address and dynamic loft through impact.
There should also be an integral of 4 degrees between each club. Most PWs are 48 degrees and SWs are 56 degrees.
I would highly recommend filling this gap with a 52 degree wedge.
Loft has a major influence on trajectory and distance.
Lofts of clubs can easily be checked and changed.
|
|
| |
The clubhead design has a major influence on accuracy, distance, feel and trajectory.
Variables to be considered include; cast or forged irons, degree of offset, face angle, size of cavity, overall head size, sole width, face thickness, bounce, the look of the club and even the shape of the grooves.
There is also the option of hybrid clubs and progressive sets. |
|
| |
The swingweight of a club refers to it’s weight distribution.
Clubs with different total weights, can have the same swingweight.
When custom fitting, we look at swingweight, total weight, shaft weight, club head weight and even the weight distribution on the clubhead.
Weighting has a major influence on distance, feel and trajectory and a minor influence on accuracy.
|
|
| |
The correct length of club allows the player to maximise distance without losing accuracy.
The length can be determined by first measuring the player’s wrist to floor measurement and then dynamically by analysing accuracy of strike.
As well as accuracy and distance, length of club has a major influence on feel.
The length of existing clubs can easily be altered. |
|
| |
Shafts vary in material, weight, flex and degree of twisting.
When shaft fitting, swing speed, tempo, the players strength and downswing release position are taken into account.
The shaft has a major influence on distance and feel and a minor influence on trajectory and accuracy. |

Putter fitting is the most over looked area in golf club fitting. The vast majority of golfers are using putters that are not suitable for them. Using a specialist putter fitting tool, the golfers most natural set up position can be ascertained and the ideal putter length, lie and loft can be identified for the individual. Your own putter can then be altered.

Custom fitting tool used for putter fitting. Allows the correct length, loft and lie to be established for both left and right handers. Lasers are
attached, ideal for looking at face aim and swingpath.
