Alison Vermes Welcome - Lady Captain
We are privileged to play our golf in the South Downs National Park. The result is wonderful views, a beautiful environment and great golf all year round, thanks to a wonderful backroom team.
Our main playing day is Tuesday, but also have a large, thriving Sunday group. There is a very full calendar of ladies competitions on offer, plus club mixed ones. We enter ladies teams in every Sussex Division (1 – 4) and compete in all other County inter club competitions, and also play inter-club mixed matches.

* Well done to Sam Wakefield on her 41pt haul in a recent stableford, resulting in a handicap cut down to 19.7, closely followed by Ali Gilham (now 16.2) with 5 pars & a birdie in her 40pt victory in Div 2 of the mixed Lydia Selsby Bowl. Ali is obviously in form, as she followed this with the 39 point haul in the 3 Princes Cup & is now off 15.3! Well done too to Chris Muschamp (now 31.6) with 4 pars on her way to 39 pts also in the 3 Princes Cup. Dawn Glastonbury took the Leetham Cup honours with 37pts.
* We’ve had mixed success in the Sussex DIv matches, but some fine performances in very tough matches. 5-2 seemed to be our score of the month! Div 1 lost 2-5 to Rye, with 4 players playing under their handicap! They then beat the Nevill 5-2 with some excellent performances. Div 2 lost 2-5 away to Ifield and Div 3 won 5-2 at Ham Manor. Good luck in their May fixtures to all the players representing the club in Div 2 – Ifield (H) on 20th & Singing Hills (H) on 31st, Div 3 – Slinfold (A) on 23rd & Cuckfield (A) on 30th, & Div 4 – Eastbourne Downs (H) on 9th. Our Morrice Fours team went down fighting in their defeat at Chichester.
* We hoped that Aileen might be able to defend her English Seniors Amateur title this week, but unfortunately, despite qualifying through the medal rounds, she lost in the first knock-out stage. We’re still proud of you Aileen! Lorraine and Dawn played Haywards Heath away in the 3rd round of the Daily Mail Foursomes, but went down on the 19th hole. Hard luck ladies
* Are you up to date with all the new rules? Geoff will be running a workshop on Sunday 19th May 8:30am. He’s already done one on a Tuesday, but has kindly offered to repeat this. Any players welcome. Breakfast is lovely!
* Have you picked up a new rules book from the foyer? Or, if you have a smartphone, downloaded the app; it’s great, and has several ways to help you find relevant rulings quickly.
* Get ready for some of the more social events; the first 9 & Dine is being held on Fri 21st June.
* Do you want to see what trophy you’re playing for, or who the defending champ is? The updated Trophy booklet is under Captains noticeboard in the locker room. And the old results book has been found and is out on display; makes fascinating reading.
